新加坡文史课程 2010

新加坡国家博物馆与新加坡亚洲研究学会联合主办新加坡文史课程 2010。

本课程以深入浅出的方式介绍新加坡的文化与历史。今年这一系列的讲座与实地考察将从文学、宗教、政治、教育、报刊和建筑等层面切入,回顾我国自开埠到建国以来的社会发展历程。

2010 年8月14日(星期六) 周雁飞博士 “新加坡民间佛教信仰与舍利崇拜”

本讲座以新加坡光明山普觉禅寺、莲山双林寺、佛牙寺龙华院等本地寺院为例,通过历史掌故、高僧事迹等史料,探讨新加坡民间佛教信仰和舍利崇拜之间的奇妙关系。

周雁飞 周雁飞毕业于新加坡国立大学,获佛教哲学博士学位,拥有心理咨询专业文凭。 先后在中国河北大学、新加坡国立大学、新加坡新跃大学、东亚研究所授课。编写、出版著作近十种。曾任《时代龙华》杂志总编,现任东方圆满生命科学机构执行长。

2010 年8月21日(星期六) 游俊豪博士 “马华文学演义作家及其时代风潮”

本讲检阅马华文学场域的递嬗转变,探讨原乡、异土、国家如何铭刻作家的心灵,也分析作品如何回应族群的处境。

游俊豪游俊豪为南洋理工大学中文系助理教授,主要研究兴趣为侨乡、新马华文文学与新加坡的中国新移民。

2010 年8月28日(星期六) 梁秉赋博士 “二十世纪中的新加坡华校”

自19世纪末以来,新加坡华裔社会中兴学办校的风气非常鼎盛。至20世纪中期,民办的华文学校,其总数曾超过350所。本讲拟对上世纪近百年以来,新加坡华文学校的发展兴衰作一历史的回顾。

梁秉赋梁秉赋为美国加州大学历史学博士,曾任教于新加坡国立大学,现执教于南洋理工大学国立教育学院。

2010 年9月12日(星期日)何启良博士 “马新分家前的政治风云(1963-1965)”

新加坡1963年加入马来西亚联合邦,1965年却被马国联盟政府逐出。短短两年之间到底发生了什么事故?这一讲将会回顾当年马新之间的种种纠缠,以疏理出其中的根本原因。

何启良何启良,政治学博士,新加坡南洋理工大学副教授。研究领域包括新马政治发展、华人历史文化,以及公共行政。

2010 年9月25日 (星期六) 崔贵强先生 “从新加坡华文报言论看华人的中国归属感” (改期 :2010年10月31日 上午11时)

本讲将从新加坡华文报章在:一.保皇党与革命党之争、二.抗日救亡运动,及三.战后国共内战这三大历史背景下,报社之间针锋相对、壁垒森严的争论及论述,来了解当时大多数新加坡华人以中国人自居,关注中国的命运与前途,具有强烈中国归属感。

崔贵强崔贵强先生是南洋大学1959年第一届史地系的毕业生,1967年于夏威夷大学考获硕士学位后,回南大历史系任教,并于1972-1974年出任历史系主任。1980年南大与新大合并后,崔先生转入新加坡国立大学历史系及华语研究中心担任教职。崔先生退休后,则于1995至2004年,在新加坡华裔馆担任研究员。

2010 年10月3日(星期日) 陈煜博士 “南洋大学校园规划与建筑设计(1953-1980)”

本讲通过回溯南洋大学校园规划和建筑设计,解读新马华社建设华文大学的理念,及其对华族传统文化与现代性的理解。

陈煜陈煜,哲学博士,新加坡国立大学建筑系助理教授。研究领域包括中国口岸城市发展、外人在华地权、以及海外华人建筑。

Singapore History Course in Mandarin 2010 The course aims at presenting a comprehensive review on the cultural and social history of Singapore. This current series attempts to explore and experience the historical development of Singapore from early to modern times through the aspects of literature, religion, politics, education, journalism and architecture, in six lecture sessions and two field trips.

August 14, 2010 (Saturday) Dr. ZHOU Yanfei “Singapore’s Popular Buddhism and Sarira Veneration”

This lecture aims at understanding the relationship between sarira veneration and popular Buddhism in Singapore through an analysis of the narrative and historical accounts on famous local temples and venerated monks.

Speakers’ Bio ZHOU Yanfei Zhou Yanfei received his Ph.D. from the National University of Singapore, specialising in Buddhism studies. He teaches at various tertiary institutions in China and Singapore, and had been the chief editor of Shidai Longhua magazine.

August 21, 2010 (Saturday) Dr. YOW Cheun Hoe “The Story of Malaysian Chinese Literature:

Writers and Their Times” This lecture examines the changes taking place in Malaysian Chinese literature as a site, exploring how ancestral homelands, foreign soils, and nations have inscribed the mentality of writers and how literary works have responded to the situation of ethnic Chinese.

YOW Cheun Hoe Yow Cheun Hoe is Assistant Professor with the Division of Chinese, Nanyang Technological University. His research interests include qiaoxiang (ancestral homelands) in China, Chinese literature in Singapore and Malaysia, new Chinese migrants in Singapore.

August 28, 2010 (Saturday) Dr. Neo Peng Fu “Chinese Schools in 20th Century Singapore”

Since the late 19th century, the Chinese in Singapore had maintained a persistent interest in providing educational facilities for their community. By the mid 20th century, they had established and managed a total of more than 350 Chinese schools, mostly independent of state’s support. This lecture aims at providing a historical overview of the development of Chinese schools in 20th century Singapore.

NEO Peng Fu Neo Peng Fu received his Ph.D. from the History Department of the University of California, Santa Barbara. He had taught at the National University of Singapore and is now a faculty of the National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University.

September 12,2010 (Sunday) Dr. Ho Khai Leong “The Politics between Malaysia and Singapore before the Separation (1963-1965)”

In 1963 Singapore joined the Federation of Malaysia after a referendum. Two years later, it was expelled by the Alliance government. This talk will review the factors that led to the separation.

HO Khai Leong Ho Khai Leong is Associate Professor, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. His areas of research include political development in Malaysia and Singapore, Chinese History and Culture, and Public Administration.

September 25, 2010 (Saturday) Mr. CHOI Kwai Keong “Understanding the ‘Chinese National Identity’ through the Chinese Press in Singapore”

Through analysing the opinions presented in the Chinese press in Singapore in three respective periods in history, namely, the struggle between the reformists and revolutionaries, the Anti-Japanese War and National Salvation Movement, and the Chinese Civil War, this lecture will show that the majority Chinese residents in Singapore were then strongly oriented towards China and would identify themselves as Chinese nationals.

CHOI Kwai Keong Choi Kwai Keong graduated from the Nanyang University, and received his M.A. from the University of Hawaii in 1967. He was Head of the History Department of Nanyang University and had taught at the National University of Singapore. Before his retirement, he was with the Chinese Heritage Center as a research fellow from 1995 to 2004.

October 3, 2010 (Sunday) Dr. Chen Yu “Building a Chinese University in Singapore: Nanyang University (1953-1980)”

Through introducing the campus planning and architectural design of the Nanyang University, this lecture aims to present the Chinese community’s ideas of building a Chinese university in Singapore, and their understanding of traditional Chinese culture and modernity.

CHEN Yu (Ph.D.) is currently an Assistant Professor of the Department of Architecture, National University of Singapore. Her research interests include urban transformation of treaty ports in China, foreigners’ land rights in China, and Chinese Overseas architecture.
